Rainbow Bridge: A Tribute to Our Dogs

At Blastem Kennels, every journey begins with a heart — and some hearts leave pawprints so deep that they shape everything that follows. Our Rainbow Bridge page is dedicated to the foundation dogs who built our program, igniting our passion and giving purpose to our mission.

These were not just show dogs, nor mere titles or pedigrees.

They were our first hopes, learning curves, late nights, early mornings, and the steady, loyal presence that transformed a dream into a legacy. They taught us about structure and instinct, patience and perseverance — but more than anything, they taught us devotion.

Every champion we celebrate today, every puppy we welcome into the world, and every family that joins the Blastem community carries a piece of these incredible tribute dogs forward. Their influence lives on in our lines, in our standards, and in the way we care for every dog that proudly carries the Blastem name.

This page serves as our tribute to the dogs who laid the foundation, who trusted us completely, and who will forever remain an integral part of our story.

Run free, sweet souls. You built something beautiful.

Blastem's On A Roll Zeva "Zeva"

Zeva was taken from us far too soon in a tragic hit and run while she was out doing what she loved most — hunting. As one of our foundation dogs at Blastem Kennels, she was driven in the field, loyal at our side, and woven deeply into our foundation and future. Her loss is immeasurable, but so is the mark she left on our hearts and our tribute to what she represented in our program. Run hard and free, sweet girl. You will always be part of us, and we know you are watching over us from the Rainbow Bridge.

Bydandacres Dallas Stephens CGN, CDX, WC "Dallas"

Dallas was our foundation dog — the girl who started it all for Blastem Kennels. She came into our lives after a flipped canoe while hunting changed everything. What could have been the end of a chapter instead became the beginning of our program. From that day forward, Dallas was our cornerstone — steady, capable, and endlessly loyal. She was more than just a hunting partner; she embodied resilience, heart, and the quiet strength that shaped our standards and our future. Because of Dallas, Blastem Kennels began. Her legacy will always run through everything we do, and she will forever be remembered as one of our tribute dogs, waiting for us at the Rainbow Bridge.

CanGCH Blastem's Remington Super Mag CD RI JH WC CGN CCA "Remi"

Remi was our all-around boy — the kind of dog every program, like Blastem Kennels, hopes to have as a foundation dog at least once in a lifetime.

He shined in the show ring with presence and confidence, yet was just as happy in the field doing what he was bred to do. He embodied versatility, proving that beauty and purpose can exist in perfect balance.

Remi gave us proud moments under the lights and unforgettable days outdoors. More than the ribbons or the hunts, he offered us his whole heart.

As a true dual-purpose soul, he left a lasting impact as one of our cherished tribute dogs and will always hold a special place in our hearts as he crosses the Rainbow Bridge, forever a part of Blastem.

Blastem's Daisy Duke "Daisy"

Daisy found her way back to us through unforeseen circumstances — and once she was home, she never left again. She spent the rest of her life with my parents at what we now recognize as her foundation with us, where she was cherished, spoiled, and exactly where she was meant to be. Daisy’s journey may not have been the one originally planned, but it was filled with love, comfort, and family. As one of our treasured tribute dogs, she reminded us that sometimes the greatest gift we can give our dogs is simply a safe place to land. Now, as she runs free over the Rainbow Bridge, she remains forever loved, sweet Daisy.

CanCH Sterre Blast'em Widgeon Widget CGN CD WC "Widget"

Widget was the loud mouth of the house — and she made sure everyone knew it. She greeted every new person with enthusiasm, always ready to say hello and happily insert her two cents into any conversation. Her voice was part of our daily soundtrack, and the house has never quite sounded the same without it. As one of the foundation dogs from Blastem Kennels, her spirit was truly unmatched. A die-hard retrieving dog, she lived for the chase and the return, driven by heart and pure love of the work. Now, as she crosses the Rainbow Bridge, we remember her as a big personality with an even bigger spirit. Run free, Widget, our beloved tribute dog.

Can CH Verdoro's Juke Box Hero "Jeff"

Jeff came to us later in life, an older boy entrusted to us by a fellow breeder and a valued addition to our foundation dogs at Blastem Kennels. From the moment he arrived, he carried himself with quiet dignity. He was the strong, silent type — steady, observant, and deeply loyal without ever needing the spotlight. Jeff didn’t demand attention; he simply was — a calm presence, a solid soul, a gentleman through and through. Though our time with him came in his later years, he was no less important to our story. As one of our tribute dogs, he reminded us that every chapter, no matter when it begins, can leave a lasting mark and that love endures beyond the Rainbow Bridge. Rest easy, sweet Jeff.
